We are participating in the “Windmills for Water” Matching Challenge sponsored by Angel Mission. For every windmill water pump sponsored by a Rotary Club, Angel Mission will match that gift by drilling a water well. Each project helps a community of as many as 3,000-5,000 people get clean, safe water and significantly improves their quality of life.

Windmills are the pump of choice for water wells in Africa. In the dry, remote and economically poor regions where we work, it is best to use something that is fueled by nature rather than requiring diesel, an electrical pump and a generator. Windmills are environmentally friendly, need winds of only about 7 mph to operate and require very little maintenance (an oil change once a year). They’re the most economical, reliable, efficient, “green” solution on the market today. The windmills we use are made in the USA.

The Short-Term Solution
You can easily help people by putting something simple in their hands.  It’s called a LifeStraw, and it purifies dirty water.

The Sustainable Solution
The ultimate, long-term solution for a community is a water well, an eco-friendly windmill to pump the water and a storage tank.

The Challenge
You’ve seen what it takes to provide clean water.  Can you help us make a bigger splash?
